2014 Toyota Corolla vs 2014 Nissan Sentra

The 2014 Toyota Corolla is a popular option for compact sedans that can still comfortably seat five passengers. One of the other sedans it is frequently compared with is the Nissan Sentra, which also has a long and reliable history.

In terms of basic features, the Corolla and Sentra are fairly similar with four doors, FWD, and a six-speed manual transmission as the base option. The Toyota Corolla offers the option of a four-speed automatic transmission, while the Sentra offers a continuously variable one.

The normal trims of the 2014 Toyota Corolla are similar in terms of engine and torque, but with 132 horsepower instead of 130. The difference lies in the Corolla LE Eco trim, which uses a special 1.8-liter four-cylinder “Valvematic” engine that increases the horsepower to 140.

Features

When it comes to comparing the features offered in the Corolla and the Sentra, they are on equal footing in terms of standard options. They both offer a power exterior mirror control, USB/iPod connection, auxiliary audio input jack, and one-touch windows. However, the Sentra’s base model adds speed-sensitive volume and keyless entry, while the base Corolla adds hands-free calling and Bluetooth. Although both models have most of the same safety features, the Toyota Corolla takes the lead with the addition of LED/Xenon lights and active head restraints.

Interior Space

Another area in which the 2014 Corolla takes the lead over the Sentra is interior space. Both cars are classified as compact sedans, but the Corolla has 1.6 more cubic feet of interior volume. Most of the dimensions for hip room, head room, and shoulder room are within an inch of each other, but the Corolla has an impressive extra 4 inches of legroom in the rear.
